ChatGPT Vs Google Bard

Spread the love

ChatGPT by OpenAI launched in November 2022 has rapidly become a viral sensation. Google has now unveiled its own AI-powered chatbot.

After a user queries it, generative AI produces content using data from its machine learning model. To address inquiries, content is generated automatically.

People began seeking ways to utilize AI-generated material for business, education, and personal interests when OpenAI released ChatGPT. However, AI specialists have warned that when information is gathered from erroneous data sources, it might muddle the content. There are benefits and drawbacks to generative material.

Microsoft also just announced a multi-year collaboration with OpenAI to advance AI capabilities.

Bard, a chatbot was Google’s answer to ChatGPT.  As of this writing, Bard is in the last testing stage and is expected to be launched around the end of February 2023.

Even though they perform comparable activities, there are significant variations between the two.

What is Bard?

To collect responses from the internet, Bard employs Google’s Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA). Bard will deliver more information to questions with this language paradigm than a typical search engine. LaMDA’s lighter and second iteration consumes fewer computer resources, allowing it to scale to accommodate more users and comments.

Bard is currently under beta testing.

Bard’s major purpose, like that of Alexa and Siri, is to get information in a concise answer rather than a search engine results page, but with connections for users to collect further information. Bard will also act as a personal assistant, assisting with chores like trip planning, locating existing reservations, and meal preparation.

Difference between ChatGPT and Google Bard

At their core, the qualities of these two chatbots are very similar. Both need you to enter a question or request, and if you do, an answer will be returned. You can then ask follow-up questions or make queries, and the bot will proceed to converse with you.

The main difference between ChatGPT and Bard is the source of data. Bard will constantly retrieve information from the internet to ensure that it is current. ChatGPT’s data sources expire in 2021, so it is restricted to more recent research and information. Bard will have additional data to gather in real-time by accessing the most recent studies.

Bard uses LaMDA for dialogue applications, whereas ChatGPT uses GPT 3.5. LaMDA was developed to recognize human language using an open-source network.

Who is expected to win in ChatGPT vs Google Bard?

It’s a battle of ChatGPT vs Google Bard. While Bing ChatGPT appears to be ahead for the time being, Google has never taken any of the competition lightly.  “Google’s paranoia about ChatGPT is inspiring. The fact that they accept that this is a Strategic Inflection Point for them and they’re in chaos mode says a lot about the culture they have built. Most companies would be in the ignorance stage. Android. Google Maps. Gmail. Google Docs. Chrome. YouTube. If they are paranoid then they will figure out a way to be a significant player AI as well. Almost every large enterprise that has been built is because the Entrepreneur stuck with one thing for 30-40 years,” said Gaurav Munjal, founder of Unacademy.

Furthermore, Google probably has a lot more data in its possession because it has been the undisputed leader in Search Engines for several years. According to Internet Live Stats, 2022, Google conducts over 99,000 searches every single second, totaling more than 8.5 billion queries per day. ChatGPT, on the other hand, has received around 100 million visitors so far.

Conclusion

These AI chatbots are still in their infancy at the present. That means, no matter how remarkable they are, they still make errors, create content that violates ethical and possibly even legal borders, and are still working out their best-use scenarios. Still, the technology is astounding, and in the case of Bard or the GPT-powered version of Bing, it has the potential to alter how we search for information on the internet.

Unfortunately, if you want to test the unique technique, you’ll most likely be limited to the free edition of ChatGPT on OpenAI’s platform. ChatGPT Plus and “the new Bing” are currently on the queue, and Google Bard is still only available to “trusted testers.” This is likely to change in the next weeks and months, but for the time being, this is an uncharted territory that we are only now beginning to explore.
